Guest packed the Ronin Art House Friday June 9 for the 3rd annual Who Runs Houston Fashion Show and Alzheimer’s awareness event. According to alz.org Alzheimer’s is a type of dementia that causes problems with memory, thinking and behavior. WRH was started by Jasmine “DJ 4.0” Lofton, a young Black entrepreneur from Dallas Texas back in 2015. What better way to kick off the month of June, which is also Alzheimer’s awareness month; than to focus on those who have dealt with the disease. Following the previous success from the past two years, Lofton and her team have worked hard and diligently around the clock along with the Alzheimer’s foundation of Houston to pull off a show. “It is important that we raise awareness to this disease and help fund fighting it” says Jazmine, who lost her grandmother to this disease.
The show was hosted by Kris Campbell with DJ Ari and DJ Wulfie in the mix and none other than BriWho and Official Steffon hosting the pre-show. As people poured into the venue they were greeted by The FourPointOhh Incorporation team with love and gratitude. Apparel vendors such as O I Style, RKS Custom Tees, Dapper Committee of Dappondia.com and many more were also there showcasing their unique pieces for guest to purchase. Texas Roadhouse even sponsored a raffle that included a basket full of goodies.
There were several musical performances from Houston’s own Skyrah Bliss, KENtheMAN, Tim Woods, and Roland Champaine. Along with comedian Jeff Shelly and a spoken word piece by AJ McQueen. Clothing designers featured Stockyard Streetwear, J. Ruth Swim, Darnell McGowan Designs, Luxe Style Truq, Styles by Haley, D.wigfall, third year participate Godson clothing and many more. At the end of the fashion show The FourPointOhh Incorporation team presented Lofton with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a portrait of she and her grandmother, who she continues this fight against Alzheimer’s for. Tears of joy and thanks flowed from her eyes as she expressed her appreciation for everyone’s love and support. Since WhoRunsHouston has been such a great success Lofton and her team announced that they are taking the fashion show back to her home town of Dallas Forth Worth! So be on the look for WhoRunsDFW this fall!
